Said Badr is an Egyptian sculptor born in Desouk, Egypt in 1965. He graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Alexandria University and received his M.A. in the Art of Sculpture in 1998. Badr is a member of the Artists and Writers Group of the Alexandria Atelier in Egypt and an exterior mission to the Academy of Arts in Carrara, Italy, for stone carving. Badr has been involved in several national exhibitions including the Autumn Salon for Small Pieces in Cairo, the Exhibition of Half a Century of Creativity in Cairo, and the Exhibition of the Eighties Generation in Alexandria.
Badr's work is recognised as sculptures that are engraved with symbolism and scripture. He has developed concepts such as "the guardian of history", "the message", "the arch of history" and "the history of a city". Said combines stone sculpting with the engraving of symbols and alphabets from different civilizations to tell a story or deliver a message and is greatly inspired by ancient civilisations. For this symposium he is sculpting a man that is strong, proud, free and welcoming to challenges.
