Omar Toussoun

Piece: Al-Masry

Omar Toussoun is an Egyptian sculptor born in Alexandria in 1972. He graduated from the Faculty of Art Education in Alexandria University in 1993 and received a high diploma of sculpture in 1996. Toussoun is a member of the International Monumental Sculpture Association in Italy and the Syndicate of Plastic Artists in Egypt. Toussoun has participated in various national and international exhibitions including The National Exhibition and Salon of Youth in Cairo and Alexandria and the Egyptian Modern Art exhibitions in Lebanon, Italy, France and Germany. 

Toussoun's sculptures are inspired by every day objects and the memories stored within them, and has worked extensively on the keyhole and its symbolism of home and nation. For this symposium he is creating a monument of a man inspired by Sufism, standing solid and looking out pensively portraying inner strength and power.
