Khaled Zaki is an independent Egyptian sculptor born in the city of Suez, Egypt in 1964. Zaki received his diploma in Monument Restoration from the Faculty of Archaeology in Cairo University in 2000. He has participated in various sculpture exhibitions throughout his career including the first international sculpture symposium in the city of Aswan in 1996. He is most renowned for having laid the groundwork for the granite carving pieces in the immense project that was the restoration of the Alexandrian Library.
His pieces can be seen in the Aswan Open Museum and the Museum of Modern Art in Cairo.
His work has been about combining the abstract and detailed figurative form in his sculptures. For this symposium his sculpture portrays internal motion rather external as he aims to capture the decision making process in a simple solid form.
"I am simply trying to capture what I see"
