Anas Alusi

Piece: Al-Mohager

Anas Alusi is an Iraqi sculptor born in Baghdad, Iraq in 1971. He graduated with a bachelor's in Fine Arts from Jamapdgdad and a bachelor's in Agriculture from the University of Baghdad. Alusi is a member of the Iraqi Artists Association and has 18 years of experience in the field of smelting bronze and fibre. Alusi has been involved in various exhibitions throughout his career including, a number of group exhibitions and festivals in the Assembly of the Iraqis and the centres of Fine Arts in Baghdad.

Alusi's work is inspired by Arab heritage with a special interest in palm trees. For this symposium he is sculpting a man covering his face as he steps into the unknown, dragging him his past pain, memories and sadness. At the base of this sculpture on eye level there will be a mirror, for everyone to see his or her reflection in this story.
