SODIC recently participated as a Silver Sponsor in the Luxor International Forum 2010 organized by the Suzanne Mubarak Women's International Peace Movement in partnership with the United Nations Global Initiative to Fight Human Trafficking. The Luxor international Forum, which took place from 10 - 12 December 2010 in Luxor, Egypt, aimed to raise awareness of key issues related to human trafficking by bringing together key stakeholders to promote dialogue, highlight priority issues and mobilise the highest level of political support for the cause.
The Forum featured distinguished keynote speakers headed by H.E. Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak, Founder and President of the Suzanne Mubarak Women's International Peace Movement. The sessions aimed to address the various dimensions of human trafficking as a modern form of slavery by assembling representatives from governments, intergovernmental and non-governmental organisations, businesses and youth leaders. Also a special effort was made to link with other campaigns such as the fight against HIV/AIDS, human rights protection, violence against women and children, and the campaign against missing children.
