Maher Maksoud is the CEO and Managing Director of SODIC. He took over
the management of SODIC in March 2006, bringing to the company his
entrepreneurial spirit, vision and significant experience in the real
estate market in Egypt. His mandate was to exploit the increasingly
favorable Egyptian economic climate and real estate sector to turn SODIC
into a major regional real estate player.
Maksoud started his career as a Director of Development at Orascom
Projects and Tourist Developments (OPTD). He spent a total of eight
years at OPTD culminating in his promotion to Executive Vice President
in 1996 and CEO of the hotel division in 1998.
In 2001, he started his own restaurant business, becoming the Managing
Partner of Delicious Inc. S.A.E. which developed Cilantro, Egypt’s
market leading chain of cafés, which he sold in 2005, realizing a 2500%
return on initial investment, having opened 18 outlets with a staff of
500 employees.
Maksoud holds a Masters’ degree in Economics from the London School of
Economics and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the American
University in Cairo.

Ahmed Dabbous, Chief Financial Officer of SODIC, served as the
Senior Investment Officer of the International Finance Corporation in
Washington DC for seven years and as Country Manager of ACTIS Africa
before joining SODIC. Dabbous holds an MBA in Finance and International
Business.

Youssef Hammad is SODIC’s Chief Commercial Officer and is
responsible for overseeing all of SODIC’s commercial activities
including marketing and sales. Prior to joining SODIC, Youssef held
several positions, most recently as Managing Director of Inventa
Productions Ltd. and Partner at Charollais Investment Management Group,
a private equity firm based in the UK. He also headed mobile operator
Orange’s Global Franchising Operations team, served as Commercial
Director at Orascom’s Gouna Beverage co. and Marketing Director at
Orascom Hotels Holding. Prior to that Youssef was an Associate Marketing
Director at Procter & Gamble in Switzerland, the Middle East and Africa.
Youssef holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Economics
from the American University in Cairo.

Ahmed Badrawi is the Director of Business Development at SODIC. He
was the founder of Egypt’s first records management business in 2000,
which he sold in 2005 when he launched The Daily Star Egypt, Egypt’s
first independent English-language newspaper and bundled with the
International Herald Tribune. Badrawi is a graduate of Law from the
University of London, and was a practicing solicitor in the UK and the
Gulf for 10 years.

Hatem Halwagy is the Director of Property Development at SODIC. He
brings to SODIC five years of experience in the real estate sector after
serving as Director of Development in Orascom Tourism and Development.
Halwagy holds a bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering and a
Master’s degree in Finance.

Hani Henry is the Director of Finance and Administration at SODIC. Prior
to joining SODIC, Henry was a certified public accountant at KPMG Hazem
Hassan for 10 years after serving as Financial and Administration
Manager at Orascom Hotels and Development for five years and at CAN
Mercedes Benz for another five years.

Karim Khalifa is the Executive Director for Strategy, Corporate Development & HR at SODIC. He is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Strategy for SODIC as well as developing all Corporate functions including HR. He has held senior positions in multiple industries around the World, including roles at Maersk Contractors in Denmark, The Hilton Group/Ladbrokes in London; Vodafone Global around the UK, and most recently Vodafone Egypt, where he championed the creation of the Mobile Advertising industry and Program Managed the delivery of the first 3G network in Egypt. Karim holds a Bachelor Degree in Electronic Engineering, and an MSc. in Radio Communications Engineering from Leeds University. He is also a certified Project Management Professional.

Hazem El-Tawil has served as the Director of Design and Technical
Affairs of SODIC for almost ten years. He spent three years with
American architects/urban designers Skidmore, Owings and Merrill in
Chicago and five years with Dar al Handasah in Cairo. He holds a
bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering and a Master’s degree in
Architecture from North Carolina State University.

Mohamed Galal is SODIC's Commercial Director. Prior to joining SODIC,
Galal was CEO of Transworld and Executive Director of DORRA Group Egypt.
Prior to that, he served as the General Manager of MAF Misr for three
years and as Administrative Manager at the US Embassy in Cairo for six
years

Ahmed Halawa is the Director of Project and Engineering. He has extensive work experience with multinationals such as Bechtel, Lahmayer International and Hamza Associates. Halawa was also responsible for the successful completion of Bibliotheca Alexandrina Project, Sidi Krir Power Plant 2*340 MW and the Palm Jumeira in Dubai. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s degree in Construction Management from Cairo University.

Markus El Katcha’s previous experience in architecture includes working on the master plans of El Gouna and Taba. He worked at Orascom Construction Industries in Egypt for several years and Boston-based architecture and urban design firm Machado and Silvetti Associates in the United States, and holds two Master’s degrees, in Urban Planning and in History, Theory and Criticism, from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. |
